Week 12

What a week of celebrations!  Not only did we announce our pregnancy, but we also celebrated Harrison's second birthday with our friends and family.  It was a fabulous week, but this baby and mama are tired.  I would give anything for a warm bubble bath, a glass of wine, and 12 straight hours of sleep.

We also got to see our baby this week.  I forgot the overwhelming feeling of bliss that comes over you being able to watch what actually looks like a human moving around inside of you.  It was amazing to see fingers and toes, movements, and hear the heartbeat (170).  Everything looks healthy and we are right on schedule to meet baby around August 7, 2017.

How far along? 12 weeks
Maternity clothes? Absolutely- leggings are everything.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Some nights are better than others.
Best moment(s) this week: Seeing our sweet baby and celebrating Harrison's 2nd birthday!
Miss Anything? Vino
Movement: Just the occasional light flutter.
Food cravings: Food is still a little off putting to me, so I'm eating what I can when I can.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really...I just randomly feel nauseous, but it's not triggered by anything in particular.
Gender: Counting down the days until February 15th.
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Headaches, fatigue, and occassional nausea.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Both - I had one work related breakdown, but other than that I am somewhat keeping my emotions in check.
Looking forward to: The second trimester!

Week 11

Another week down, only 29 more to go!  This week was filled with family photos and sniffles- sick toddlers and sick pregnant mamas are no fun together, especially when Nyquil is no longer an option.  Props to Elmo for helping us make it through and a job that allows me to work from the couch.  On the plus side though, we finally got to take our family/announcement photos that I've been planning in my head for a while now and I am obsessing over them.  I may be bias, but my kid is just the cutest and my husband isn't too bad either 😉.  Check out some of my favorites below and look out for the rest of them next week!

How far along? 11 weeks
Maternity clothes? For the most part.  Anything tight is uncomfortable, so maternity leggings are my BFF right now.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: What's that?
Best moment this week: Our family photo shoot- it was perfect timing for Harrison's two year old pictures as well as announcement photos.  Thanks to Mike and Sandy for making my vision come true!
Miss Anything? Mimosas
Movement: I'm still convinced that I can feel the tiniest of baby kicks every now and then.  It's definitely subtle and only happens occasionally, but it's something!
Food cravings: Nothing, which is still a total bummer!  I've been eating a lot of cereal, but that's mostly because I don't cook and it's convenient.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Prenatal vitamins.
Gender: Our early gender scan is scheduled for 2/15 -- I keep obsessing over old wive's tales and I'm pretty sure my husband thinks I've officially lost my mind.
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Headaches, leg cramps, occasional nausea, and sore sore sore boobs.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Both, but I did cry while listening to a cover of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car
Looking forward to: There are so many things to look forward to this week!
  • Our ultrasound-- I feel like it's been forever since I've seen this little human inside of me and I am ready for some reassurance that all is well in there.
  • Harrison's 2nd Birthday -- I can't wait to celebrate our little man and see all of our friends and family.
  • Our announcement 💗

Week 10

The end of the first trimester is near and I am so ready.  Pregnancy with a destroyer of worlds toddler is hard work and I am looking forward to hopefully getting some energy back.  Time seems to be moving much more quickly than my last pregnancy.  I guess it helps that instead of reading every pregnancy article on the internet I'm busy with work and family.  I feel much more relaxed this time around and instead of worrying about every little thing I'm trying to enjoy growing a human as much as I can.  This will be our last baby, and my last pregnancy, so instead of spending it thinking about what could go wrong I want to focus on the miracle that is being pregnant.  Of course, I still want to be done with this whole first trimester thing 😉.

How far along? 10 weeks
Maternity clothes? Yes- the bump has arrived!  It no longer only makes a nighttime appearance, but is there when I wake up, can be seen in tight clothing, and forbids me from sleeping on my stomach.  Stretch marks? NoSleep: Vivid dreams are tapering off, although last night I was at camp and had a serious crush on one of the counselors, but besides having to get up and pee I'm sleeping through the night.    Best moment(s) this week: The arrival of the bump. Miss Anything? Beer.. this is the first week I've really missed being able to have a drink, or three.  Movement: I know it's seriously early, but if I'm sitting still in a certain position I can feel movement every now and then.  It doesn't happen all the time, but it definitely feels like a baby kick.
Food cravings:  Besides coke, there's nothing that I have to eat all the time.  It's more like I see something and I want it... like sour patch kids.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really anymore, I've even had salad twice this week!
Gender: One month to go! Labor Signs: NopeSymptoms: Lack of energy, especially in the afternoon and evening, and occassional nausea.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? OnHappy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Our announcement photo shoot!

Week 9

Well, hello week 9!  Thank you for showing up.  After not eating for about three weeks, I seem to have found my appetite again, which in turn makes me feel like a human!  I'm at the point in my first trimester where I'm starting to feel anxious about whether or not the baby is ok in there.  It's been a couple weeks since my last ultrasound, and a couple weeks until my next one, and I just want some reassurance that my little bean in there is still growing (although by the size of the bump that's starting to show already something is brewing in there).   I'm ready to tell the world I am pregnant and these last few weeks until the second trimester seem to be moving so slowly...

How far along? 9 weeks
Maternity clothes? I can still squeeze into my favorite pair of jeans, but leggings are all the rage these days.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I would give anything to nap.  My body is so tired, but my mind refuses to turn off.  I also can't seem to stay asleep at night.  Between toddler wake up calls and vivid, terrifying dreams I lie awake most nights staring at the ceiling willing my body to go back to sleep.
Best moment(s) this week: Throwing Nicole's baby sprinkle!  For those of you who don't know, Nicole and her husband are Harrison and baby #2's godparents, and we are the godparents of their daughter and soon to be son.  It's so special to be pregnant together this time around, even if it's a six month difference, and it was so fun sprinkling her with love, gifts, and fake champagne!
Miss Anything? Speaking of champagne...
Movement: I swear I feel little movements every now and then, but it's probably just my organs being pushed around and squished together.
Food cravings: This week I wanted sour cream and egg salad (not together).
Anything making you queasy or sick: The look of some food, like refried beans and chicken.
Gender:  This week an equal number of people have said boy and girl.  I do feel different than I did with Harrison, so we shall see!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Tired, cranky, and holy hell do my boobs hurt.  I'm pretty sure they are going to just fall off of me.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Still pretty moody.
Looking forward to: My bump.  I'm ready for the world to know I'm pregnant.  I forgot how hard the first trimester can be- between keeping secrets and feeling frumpy I am ready to get this show on the road!

Week 8

Happy New Year!  Baby Hall #2 will be joining us this year, and although it's still 8 months away, at least we have entered the birth year!  Mike and I celebrated New Year's Eve by watching Finding Dory with Harrison and falling asleep before the clock struck midnight #wild -- even though New Years Eve isn't what it used to be for us (dinner, drinks, midnight kisses), I wouldn't change a thing.  Plus, I woke up on New Years Day rested and headache free!  This year I want to focus on putting family first and spending quality time with my husband, son, and growing baby.  This means less time on my phone and knowing that late night emails and calls for work can wait.  It's important to me to be less stressed and care for myself and family more, which means adding structure and boundaries where they are needed.

How far along? 8 weeks
Maternity clothes? Yes.. not all the time, but boy are they comfier.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I wish I could squeeze in some naps, but going to bed early helps get some extra hours in.
Best moment(s) this week: Reflecting on 2016 and looking forward to the future.  I have always wanted to be a mom of two, and it's so surreal that it's actually happening.  When I was younger I always wondered what my life would look like.. boys? girls? both?  Now we are close to finding out and life as I know it is pretty darn good.
Miss Anything? Coffee- and it's not that I won't drink it, I'm totally on board with a little caffeine, but the smell of it makes me feel ill.
Movement: Not yet, but looking forward to it!
Food cravings: Nothing, which is a total bummer!  I really enjoyed my donut cravings last time around, but for now it's bland food and coke.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Less so this week, but nothing is overly appetizing.
Gender: My bet is still on a girl.
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Exhaustion, occasional nausea, heavy breasts, and mood swings.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: I cried over a Chipotle burrito.
Looking forward to: Getting my appetite and energy back.. one day right?
